Walter Emerson Little

Walter Emerson Little, operator of the Hotel Ampersand for 35 years, died yesterday morning at the hotel. Mr. Little came to Saranac Lake about 40 years ago and was active in the management of the hotel until about three years ago when Mrs. Little took over its operation.

Mr. Little was born in Willimantic, Conn., a son of Wilton and Edith Clarke Little. He was a veteran of Navy service in World War I, commander in 1954 of the Matthews Killeen Post 614 and a member of the Last Man's Club. He was married to the former Ivy Cordwell in Miami Beach Fla. on April 25, 1945.

Besides his wife, Mr. Little is survived by a sister, Mrs. G. Ross Clayton of Clinton, Conn., and a brother, Donald C. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Friends may call this evening at the Fortune Funeral Home where there will be an American Legion service at 8 o'clock. A private funeral service will be conducted Tuesday by the Rev. W. James Erdmann, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Cremation will take place in Troy.
