Dr. Walter E. Taylor was a dentist who retired from practice on April 17, 1989. His office was at 19 Academy Street in Saranac Lake.

NORTH CANAAN, Conn. — Dr. Walter Erwin Taylor, 85, of 99 South Canaan Rd. and formerly of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, July 20, 1994 at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan.

Born Aug. 14, 1908 in Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of the late Elmer and Fannie (Simpson) Taylor. He was the husband of the late Grace (Bolli) Taylor.

A dentist in Saranac Lake for 50 years, Dr. Taylor retired in 1988. He was educated at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and received his dentistry degree from the University of Rochester. He was a past president of the New York State Dental Society and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He was an active community member in Saranac Lake.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth T. "Betty" Frank of Ambler, Pa., and Sharon, Conn., and Gail T. Meyer of North Egremont, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Garrett T. and Reade A. Frank, both of Ambler, Pa., and Lindsey N. Shuford of North Egremont, Mass.

A memorial service will be held in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake on Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m., the Rev. Frederick Dennis officiating. Arrangements are with the Newkirk Palmer Funeral Home in Canaan, Conn. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake or to the Saranac Lake Public Library.
