Ithaca Dog Park is a whopping 4.8 acre dog park located within the Alan Treman Marine State Park at the south end of Cayuga Lake. The park is on the southwest side of the parking lot for the marina.
The dog park has a separate small dog area along with the normal dog park area. Amenities include a small wading pool for the dogs, some play equipment, picnic tables, grills, composting of dog waste 1, running water, and shade umbrellas.
Before this space was an official dog park, it was used in the same way. Police just didn't enforce the leash laws. A few residents complained and dog owners started getting tickets. Hence the park was formed in 2008 after the dog owning community pointed out that there wasn't any public place in Ithaca where dogs could legally be without a leash.
