East Downtown is the unofficial name for the part of Kitchener that runs along King Street from Benton/Frederick to Ottawa Street (although some people consider it to continue as far as Montgomery Road and the entrance to the Conestoga Expressway), and the two major streets either side of King--Weber and Charles. The Kitchener Market is the heart of the district, which also contains the largest Asian grocery in the area. Due to the typically lower cost of rental housing, there is a significant concentration of social services in the district.
