The University of Liverpool was founded in 1881 and is one of the six original "red brick" civic universities. It is a member of the prestigious Russell Group and the N8 Group for research collaboration, and The university has produced eight Nobel Prize winners and today has more than 230 first degree courses across 103 subjects, as well as an annual income of £219 million, including £75 million for research.

The university is renowned for it's specialisms in Medicine, Veterinary Science, Engineering, Management, and Dentistry.
