The Iron Ore Heritage Trail will be a 48-mile, multi-use, year round trail that connects communities and people to the region’s historic sites and human stories. The trail will go from Republic Township to Kawbawgam Road in Chocolay Township, routed primarily along old railroad grades. Portions of the trail are state-designated snowmobile trails from December 1 to March 31, reverting to non-motorized use during the spring, summer, and fall.
