The American Underground is located on the American Tobacco Campus in downtown Durham.
It is the region's largest hub for entrepreneurs--totaling nearly 30,000 square feet of space co-locating investors, premier technology accelerator programs (Triangle Startup Factory and Groundwork Labs), and over 30 startups. The space above American Underground @American Tobacco (@ATC) is home to some of the southeast's largest startup financiers including InterSouth Partners, Square1 Bank, and Hatteras Venture Partners.
In June of 2013, the American Underground will double in size with the opening of the American Underground @Main in downtown Durham. This expansion will focus on coworking and smaller offices for early stage startups (1-5 people). The space can accommodate another 65+ startups in addition to the 30+ at AU @ATC. Both spaces boast flexible lease terms and pricing that is startup friendly. The AU @ATC also features a 70 person classroom that often hosts regional entrepreneurial events during the week and weekends.
