Belvidere Park, or Belvedere Park, is a 1950s era neighborhood just off Capital Boulevard near downtown Raleigh. The spelling of the neighborhood exists in both incarnations, and it's not clear where the name came from. The neighborhood was built at the close of World War II as a place for returning GIs to raise their families. Homes were generally 2-bedroom, single-bath structures of less than 1,000 square feet. Lots are large, many of a quarter-acre or more, and many of the homes have since been renovated or expanded.
Lions Park is nearby. The neighborhood does not have sidewalks, but otherwise is very walkable.
