While Cary is known for its excellent parks and greenways, few compare to the beauty and versatility of Fred G. Bond Metropolitan Park. It offers practically everything you’d want in a park: running trails, a playground, picnic tables and a lake that’s frequently dotted with canoes and paddleboats. Don’t worry about bringing your own boat, since plenty are available for rent at Bond Park’s boathouse. And if boating’s not your thing, you can watch the action while sitting in a rocking chair on the deck of the boathouse shelter.

Bond Park is also one of the town’s best venues for festivals and special events, which means you might show up for a picnic – but stay all day because you’ve stumbled across a reggae band jamming at the park’s amphitheater. Everything from small concerts to big craft fairs happens here, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the park’s website for event listings.

Cary Senior Center is located here.
