Brother Esau is comprised of members Robert Kintner, Don Eason, Matt Armstrong, and Steve Weinberg.  In the summer of 2010, Hammond B-3 / Piano player Don Eason set out to start a Grateful Dead tribute band. Don, who has played with the legendary tribute act, Cosmic Charlie, discovered Matt Armstrong, the band’s lead guitarist, formerly of Viva la Muerte. Matt, a member of The Deadwood Society, a group of scholars dedicated to the impact of the Grateful Dead on American culture, composed of, among others, Grateful Dead archivist, Nicholas Meriwether, D.J. extraordinaire, David Gans, and Grateful Dead sociologist, Dr. Rebecca Adams, Don’s former compadre in Blue Diablo, Robert Kintner, took over on drums stage left.

Brother Esau has become a fixture in both the Triangle and the Triad, often collaborating with some of the areas finest musicians, including bassist Allan Royal II, percussionist Justin Barnett, and drummers Rob Peele and Kelly Linville.  At many Brother Esau shows you can find Official Photographer and Archivist of The Grateful Dead, Robbi Cohn.  Robbi spent over 20 years on the road with The Grateful Dead, and has her collection availabe for viewing and purchase.
