The Carolina Mixed Media Artist Guild (CMMAG)  was founded in 2002 by Jeanne Rhea with the purpose of bringing together mixed media artists and crafters for support, networking and education. At that time, there was no other formal venue for mixed media artists. The first meetings were in her home, moved to member homes, moved out into the community and currently has a mutually beneficial relationship with the Chavis Center in downtown Raleigh. Membership has increased each year since the beginning, has members from all over North Carolina and an active presence in the burgeoning mixed media community.

The mission of the CMMAG is to:

  • advance the education of mixed media arts via meetings, workshops, and other guild functions
  • demonstrate the use of found objects, salvaged, recycled and other 'non-traditions' materials in artwork
  • encourage the personal and professional development of Member artists
  • explore techniques in a wide variety of media
  • develop opportunities for member artists to show their work to the public
  • promote mixed media work to galleries,  museums and the public
