The Chapel Hill - Durham Hikers and Outdoors Group provides local hiking and outdoor opportunities for adults in the western triangle.

Established in 2009, our group of over 500 members is a very active and social crew that enjoys hikes in the Chapel Hill, Durham, Hillsborough and Chatham county areas.

Our hiking events are led by volunteer organizers and vary in intensity from beginner to brisk and are generally anywhere from 3 to 7 miles in length.  We also offer evening, weekday and weekend hiking opportunities. Some of the main spots we like to hike are the Eno State Park, Battle Park, Occoneechee Speedway, Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, Duke Forest, The American Tobacco Trail, Little River Regional Park, Jordan Lake, Johnston Mill Nature Preserve, and West Point on the Eno.

To shake things up, we also include other outdoor activities including tubing trips, bike rides, animal preserve tours, moonlight paddling, trips to the zoo, beach and aquarium outings, introduction to kayaking lessons, canoeing, swimming, night skywatching sessions, walking tours of Sarah Duke Gardens and other historical sites and more!
