PineCone - the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, Inc., is dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting all forms of traditional music, dance and other folk performing arts. PineCone was incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in 1984 and has been presenting concerts and other music programs ever since. 

With annual free concerts in Raleigh, Cary, and Wake Forest; participatory jam sessions (bluegrass music, Irish music, and shape note singing); the weekly PineCone Bluegrass Radio Show on WQDR 94.7-FM; a directory of traditional Piedmont musicians available for people and organizations looking to book bands for special events or take music lessons; bluegrass music camps offered in partnership with the Town of Cary; a musicians' opportunities e-newsletter that lets musicians know about performance opportunities, workshops, grant opportunities, contests, and more; and the signature Down Home Concert Series at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts; all managed by two full-time and one part-time employees and a volunteer Board of Directors, PineCone is a resource for North Carolina residents and newcomers alike who are interested in the music traditions and history of the Triangle and beyond.
