Preston is a group of subdivisions totaling more than 1,300 homes nestled within the pines of Cary, the seventh largest municipality in North Carolina. The area spans all neighborhoods bordered by Highhouse Road, Cary Parkway, Davis Drive and Morrisville Parkway. 35 of the subdivisions are managed by Preston Community Association Inc. (PCA), while seven have different homeowner associations and two are without. Parking regulations are clearly stated, measuring out safe distances from driveways, and contact information is provided for submitting complaints on PCA's website.
History begins with the Prestonwood Country Club
According to this telling of the area's history, the club's revived success and transfer of ownership to James Goodnight and three others in 1991, led to the residential expansion of what now makes up the Preston communities. Homeownership in Preston may not be necessary for membership at the Prestonwood Country Club, but the club's amenities add a nice layer of benefits to the community's offering.
Preston Subdivisions
In 1991-1996 the residential expansion from the Prestonwood Country Club involved the development of 33 communities under the management of PCA and seven others with their own associations. The annual budget supporting these 33 communities is more than $500,000. These subdivisions include:
