The St. Paddy's Run Green 8k is an 8-kilometer race in downtown Raleigh that celebrates "Green" -- both St. Patrick's Day and environmentally-friendly running. Attendees will enjoy Gaelic festivities and a post-race concert. The event benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Eastern North Carolina and is the first sustainable Race Without a Trace in Raleigh -- aiming to minimize landfill waste through the use of electronic race packets, compostable food and drink containers and promotion of earth-friendly initiatives. There will be more than 30 prizes awarded in categories including: fastest male and female runners in 12 age groups, fastest overall runner, fastest master runner and fasted kilt-wearing runner. An after-race party will follow the event with live music in front of Tir na nOg Irish Pub.
