*****************************************************************

  1. Just messing with formatting. Wish text wrapped images. philpoe
    • Text does wrap around images -- just double click on an image and then select align "left" or "right."  I fixed up the page to use this. --PhilipNeustrom
  2. Philip, you are going to think I'm crazy. I have this automatic desire to hit a "Like button" or write a comment on this site. Maybe that could be part of the next generation wiki software. Social features! --Reid Serozi
  3. Google Chrome Spell Check is not working correctly. Right Click on a misspelled word and you get a cut/paste menu. Do you have same problem? --reidserozi
    • Yeah, it's kinda weird.  You have to do Right-Click + Control.  There doesn't seem to be a good fix that wouldn't require a boatload of work right now, unfortunately. What we may do is phase out the editor's own context-menu and, once it's phased out, make the spell check thing (browser's default) pop up.  --PhilipNeustrom
  4. SR: It’d be really handy if I could search for an address to center the map. It’s sometimes a chore to find a location using the map controls.
  5. SR: It would be nice if the editor could set the zoom level for an embedded map. The maps on the park pages I’ve added is zoomed so tight that it doesn’t give any context.
    • Yeah, sometimes it is tight.  We can adjust the default zoom level easily.  I would try, for parks, to draw a region rather than a point, too. --PhilipNeustrom
    • Would it be possible to save the zoom level when an editor saves the map? Allowing for case-by-case zoom settings instead of an across-the-board setting? -- scott
  6. SR: Images - I’m moving over some content from my blog. I take lots of photos of the parks I visit. I don’t do this because I’m a photography buff, but because I felt that the official pages on the Raleigh site for these parks lacked good imagery. Adding images to these pages is kinda clunky. Would it be possible to upload more than one image at a time?
  7. SR: An image gallery widget would be great, too, for cases where I want to add a bunch of images, but they don’t have a 1-1 relationship to a given paragraph. There are plenty of decent jQuery “carousel” plugins
    • ANOTHER THOUGHT about images: since a big goal of LocalWiki is building community, I wonder if, rather than having an image gallery built into LW, it'd make more sense to implements shortcodes (ala WordPress) that let you embed photo thumbs from Picasa/Flickr/etc. ?
  8. Philip, could you highlight what changes will happen with your 10/1 update...Phil Poe
  9. Philip, how will events be handled...free-form or through some type of template...Phil Poe
    • Yeah, I think a template would work well for events. - reid serozi
  10. I'd love to be able to add labels to the map. I can use a point, but I guess that's supposed to represent the location of the Wiki page. For instance - on the Neuse River Greenway page, I'd like to label the sections of the trail that are not complete.
  11. Adding images: It'd be great if you could set the float on the same screen where you upload/add the image. Adding/floating multiple images can be tedious. - Scott
  12. Usability feedback. It's easy to forget to sign-in when making edit changes. I have made that mistake and others have the done the same. - Reid
    • We now warn you after you save a page if you are not logged in. -Mike

  13. Make the "Styles" dropdown selector in the editing toolbar wider so you can view the full desription of a style...Phil Poe
  14. When creating a wiki link it would be hot to have a list of existing wiki pages to select from....Reid Serozi
    • This is on our todo - Mike
      • This is now done.  Check it out!  You can autocomplete quickly by pressing Up/Down then Enter.  -PhilipNeustrom [Like] [+1]
      • Yeah that is hot! -- Reid Serozi
  15. It would be helpful to have the option to SEARCH all content. Currently, I believe search is limited to page titles only...Phil Poe
    • Search already uses all content.  The ranking could be better, but it definitely picks up content.  Check it out: https://triangle.localwiki.org/search/?q=ranking+could+be+better  Let us know if you're not finding something specific.  -Mike
    • Sorry,Mike. I thought the list of potential contributors was on the site and couldn't locate. The names were in a Google Doc.
  16. Built-in QR code generator per page. The ability to generate and print a QR code that links back to the wiki page. Would this increase visitors, participation and help with promotion? -- Reid Serozi
  17. Share a wiki page on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ -- Reid Serozi
  18. Wiki Treats? How do we increase participation? How do we reward wiki users for contributing content? Could we reflect metrics of participation on a user profile page. For example, user is promoted to a new level after 100 edits. -- Reid Serozi
  19. We need a feature to notify users; when a page changes you edited or created, and/or when someone writes a message on your profile page. Would this feature automatically assume you want to be notified or do you need to manually subscribe to be alerted? -- Reid Serozi
    • Yeah, we definitely need this. It's probably going to be the first new feature we work on after we do our software launch. --PhilipNeustrom
  20. Make different segments of page name (path) clickable -- e.g.. Wiki Community/Home Page Design -- Phil Poe
  21. Phil Poe: "Just tested wrapping of headers around pictures in the sandbox. Still a problem. PhilipN, can we give a fix a priority? Really important if headers become the standard for formatting content."
  22. Most Common Question! My page doesn't have a physical location and I don't want to map it! Could you add a "skip" button to the map prompt?  The message says, "Thank you for your changes. Your attention to detail is appreciated. Create a map for this page?" -- Reid Serozi
