Overview
Wolf Ridge at Centennial is the first student housing built on Centennial Campus, a unique environment filled with teaching, research and industry partners at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. The first phase of Wolf Ridge apartments opened August 2013 to upper-class students. The two buildings are part of six that will be Silver LEED certified and feature the most sustainable living options on campus. The remaining four buildings, part of Phase II, will be completed fall 2014. The living space is among the newest structures on an expanding Centennial Campus.
On-Campus Living
University Housing broke ground on the multi-million dollar project on Dec. 1, 2011. Tower and Lakeview halls opened Aug. 1, 2013, but when completed, the on-campus apartment community will also consist of Grove, Innovation, Plaza and Valley halls. Innovation Hall will house the Entrepreneurs Village and the EI Garage, which encourage students to innovate and test their creativity.
Currently, Wolf Ridge offers one-to-four bedroom options as well as graduate studio lofts that are fully furnished with stainless steel appliances. The 550,446 square-foot property includes an on-site bookstore, The Pack Shop; dining, The Oval; and fitness center. The six buildings will include nearly 1,200 beds and access to the Centennial Greenway.
Sustainable Living
Wolf Ridge is the first LEED Silver Certified housing option for NC State students and one of 10 LEED certified projects on NC State’s campus. Sustainable features include green rooftops to help insulate the buildings, a 50,000-gallon cistern to collect rain water, native plants, LED lighting, Energy Star appliances and low-flow bathroom fixtures to reduce water consumption.
Centennial Campus
Wolf Ridge residents are part of the Centennial Campus neighborhood. Benefits include having a direct view of the new James B. Hunt Jr. Library, which is home to the bookBot, an automated book delivery system courtesy of robots.
Additionally, students share space with the Graduate School and the colleges of Engineering and Textiles; two National Science Foundation Engineering Research Centers; and numerous industry partners and future employers.
