Liisa OgburnI live in Historic Oakwood and have had the good fortune of getting to know a number of longtime neighbors who helped save the neighborhood from being bulldozed in 1972 by the City to create a highway through Oakwood and Mordecai. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the neighborhood being saved and to capture the stories of treasured residents, we launched an oral history project. To hear excerpts from these interviews with over 40 residents, visit: http://www.oakwoodproject.org/

I also teach documentary at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke (where I started a program documenting patient stories http://www.documentingmedicine.com/), work on various projects of personal interest (such as http://howmotherhoodchangesus.com/), constantly work on our old house and walk the neighborhood with my kids and dogs in search of mulberry trees, service berries and the pecan trees planted over 100 years ago, to scavenge good pie ingredients.
