October 9, 2011

6PM to 7PM at Helios Coffee.
Present: Scott Reston, Philip Poe, Reid Serozi, Hilary Stokes and Jim Belt

What is going to be our scope for the pilot?

We are going to stick to specific  topics within the boundaries of Raleigh. Instead of writing about everything in Raleigh, we are going to look for popular topics addressed by elected officials, public services, and neighborhoods. The objective should be to create content that differentiates us from other content providers.

For example; parks (open spaces), neighborhood descriptions, transit, community services, SeeClickFix

What is the pilot?

Need to build good content to provide value and set the stage for others to jump in. For now, the site will remain under "lock" till we get there.

Marketing. How are we going to recruit more authors during the pilot?

Reach out to subject leaders that are passion about specific topics with a canned message invite to join the pilot.

Before reaching out to subject leaders we need to create a "wiki help guide", so there is not issues creating pages for the first time. For example, Daviswiki.org's Wiki Guide

Also, crate a splash-page to lure additional authors. The slash page will include the elevator speech, localwiki video and a google docs form to gather an email address and more... The splash page will be registered under trianglelocalwiki.org. Scott will host the informative splash-page. Reid will register the domain name.
