William Blackmon is Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apogee Social Media Group (formerly known as LinkMeIn), a full service consulting and training company centered on helping companies and individuals leverage the power of social media.

In 2009, William launched his vision for helping people use social media to enrich their lives by leveraging the power of a connected community. His passion for empowering professionals through education and helping businesses develop and implement social media strategies has earned him a reputation as a leading authority on social media in the region.

Considered a pioneer in social media, William originally joined the LinkedIn® community in 2004. As an early adopter, William has developed a unique perspective and a keen understanding of the evolution, latest trends and future direction of social media. This firsthand experience has allowed him to create the most relevant and powerful training content in the industry. His knowledge and experience specific to the LinkedIn® platform have made him one of the most sought-after trainers and consultants for individuals, companies and universities in the area.

William has trained over 5000 professionals across a wide range of industries to leverage the power of LinkedIn® to build and strengthen a brand, find new opportunities, and to connect customers and talent. William has been featured on WRAL-TV, My Carolina Today, WCHL radio’s “Art of Potential,” and many other community and social media venues. As a recognized expert, William has had multiple speaking engagements at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and Meredith College School of Business MBA Program; he regularly lectures at Wake Tech Community College.

Prior to his leadership in social media, William held positions at Sony Ericsson, Sanmina-SCI, DNA Group, and Endwave Corp. He honorably served his country as a US Marine during the Desert Storm era; in this high-stress environment, he learned critical leadership skills and the can-do entrepreneurial spirit needed to help others succeed in similar tough situations. William earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Scrum Master.
