About ASI

Associated Students, Inc. serves as the official governing body of the Sacramento State students and through operation and sponsorship of programs and services meets the varied needs of students. We provide experiential education, leadership opportunities, student representation, various business and recreational services, campus life programs and activities that support the campus and greater Sacramento community.

Statement of Purpose

Associated Students, Inc. serves as the official governing body of the Sacramento State students and through operation and sponsorship of programs and services meets the varied needs of students.

The following shall be the primary means by which the Associated Students fulfills its purpose:

• Through operation and sponsorship of programs and services designed to meet the varied needs of students;

• Through expression of student interest on campus and off; expression of student opinion regarding action and positions taken on the campus and at local, state, national and international levels, that relate to student and access to education;

• By supporting and strengthening campus cultural, social, academic and recreational opportunities, encouraging healthy civic and campus involvement, and developing further development of the students of Sacramento State and the campus community.

Programs & Services

Accounting Services

Associated Students, Inc. Accounting Services serves as the corporate accounting and risk management department for Associated Students at Sacramento State. Financial services provided include processing of cash receipts and disbursements, processing purchase orders, generating financial reports and preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial, audit, and tax filings.

Aquatic Center

Associated Students, Inc., Aquatic Center offers high quality boating and safety programs through education, recreation, and competition. The Aquatic Center is one of the finest and most comprehensive centers in the country. All Sacramento State students, staff, and alumni receive a discount on selected programs and rentals with their Sac State ID. Classes and Activities include, rowing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, youth & adult programs, facility rentals, equipment rentals, and student employment.

Children’s Center

Associated Students, Inc., Children's Center serves as a family support service for Sacramento State students by providing child care programming. Enrollment priority is given to Sac State students, and then opened to the rest of the Sac State community. In addition, under the direction of a team of professional staff, the Children’s Center employs a large number of Sacramento State students seeking experience in childcare. The Children’s Center serves as a support system existing in a home-oriented environment to meet a child’s emotional, physical, intellectual and social growth needs.

KSSU Radio

Associated Students, Inc. KSSU is Sacramento State’s Student run radio station, which offers a range of different radio personalities as well as genres of music. In addition to regular programming, KSSU also interviews visiting artists, broadcasts at Sac State athletic events, provides students opportunities to DJ, and participates in a number of campus events. As a part of the Student Life & Services program, KSSU is a vital part to student life on the Sac State campus.

Peak Adventures

Associated Students, Inc., Peak Adventures is a major outdoor adventure provider for Northern California. Peak Adventures is dedicated to providing adventure education and leadership development opportunities for all ages. Peak Adventures has been guiding people on outdoor adventures since 1989, and has become the most unique, diverse, and affordable outdoor recreation provider within the Sacramento Valley. Offerings include backpacking, day hiking, camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, white water rafting and more! Lessons available in snowshoeing, snowboarding, mountaineering techniques, cross country skiing and downhill skiing. A full service bike shop is available on campus and is known for its prices and remembered for its top notch service. Highly skilled service mechanics perform repairs, sell parts and accessories, teach bike maintenance classes and generally get cyclists and their bikes rolling, whether commuting or recreating. All programming is available to the general public, with Sac State students receiving special discounted pricing.

Safe Rides

Associated Students, Inc., Safe Rides is a free program that provides safe, and confidential rides home to the students, staff and faculty of Sac State. The Safe Rides Program is designed to prevent drinking and driving related incidents, such as accidents, DUI/DWI arrests, and death. Safe rides are also a safety net that can be used in many different situations, a bad date, a late movie, or a broken down car.  Safe rides operate Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Safe Rides relies on Sac State Organizations and Clubs to ensure the success of the Safe Rides program through volunteering.

Student Government

Associated Students, Inc., Board of Directors serves as the official governing body of Sacramento State students. It is comprised of a variety of students elected by the student body during the spring semester. Positions include President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of University Affairs, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and a Board of directors from a range of different colleges on campus. The College Directors include representatives from Arts & Letters, Education, Business, Engineering and Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, Health and Human Services, Graduate, and Undeclared. The Board meets regularly to discuss issues facing the student body, and participation by the greater student community is highly encouraged.

Office of Governmental Affairs

Associated Students, Inc, Office of Governmental Affairs, OGA, is the political voice for students and thus informs students of CSUS about the different political issues that affect both them and their State related to higher education, as well as lobby the State Legislature on behalf of the students and the Board of Directors. OGA offers students leadership development, local and statewide internship referrals, on campus internship opportunities, and volunteer hours for clubs, organizations, class requirement or individual interest.

Student Shop

Associated Students, Inc., Student Shop provides numerous services to the campus community which include retail sales of caps and gowns for students and faculty, laptops for checkout, discounted theater tickets, money orders, student health insurance, legal aid, faxing services and stamps for sale.
