Mission statement

"We serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities as a lending library and archives and as a site for cultural activities."

About LLACE

The Lavender Library, Archives, and Cultural Exchange is a full service lending library devoted to serving the needs of the Sacramento LGBT community and preserving materials related to its history. LLACE is an all-volunteer-run, donation-supported community organization with certified nonprofit status. Users are encouraged to volunteer, join, and become 'Pride Preserver' members. It also provides space for various meetings and events pertaining to the LGBT community.

The collection at LLACE includes more than 10,000 books and hundreds of films on both DVD and VHS, as well as a selection of periodicals dating as far back as the 1950's. Archival materials include personal papers and photos from important individuals in Sacramento queer history, as well as various posters and ephemera from political and social events.

Using the Library

In-library access to materials is free and available to the public, but lending privileges require membership. Membership is attained through a $35 annual donation, which comes with lending privileges for up to three items at a time. Due dates are generally 2 weeks from initial check-out, but most materials may be renewed as desired depending on other requests for items.
