Tapioca Express is a franchise chain that specializes in tapioca—or boba—drinks. There are several scattered throughout the Sacramento region. Most offer other snack-type foods (such as fried calamari or tofu), while others have more substantial fare in addition to pearl tea.

2007-08-28 21:03:38 Normally we'll treat ourselves to pearl tea on Freeport when we make a run from Davis to go to nearby Oto's. I like the drinks here over our local Old Teahouse enough to abstain between trips. . . for the most part. The highlight of the Freeport location—that which makes it our favorite over any of the pearl tea joints we've been to—is the fact that they upgrade you to a "large" for free when you order a second add-in for your drink. May not seem like much, but it's nice to save that extra buck, and no other places we've found do that. Also, this location is the one that has the "more substantial fare" listed above, and their wor wonton soup is quite good. —KevinChin
