Mission Statement
The mission of the Santa Cruz-based, national organization of
Barrios Unidos is to prevent and curtail violence amongst youth
by providing them with life enhancing alternatives, harnessing
the power of culture and spirituality, providing avenues to quell
gang warfare, and offer a promising model for building healthy,
vibrant multicultural communities.

This is also the location for the Cesar E. Chavez School for Social Change, an alternative high school (grades: 7-12).  The school targets students who can take advantage of a broad-based educational approach that combines a core academic curriculum and a leadership development program, while empowering youths to become positive role models of social change in our communities.
