This perennial blooms from April to June in moist, wooded areas. The plant normally reaches a height of 3 to 5 feet. It's botanical name is Aguilegia formosa, and Aguilegia comes from the Latin word for eagle. It is believed that the plant was named this because its flower looks like an eagle's claw.
