Released in 1987, The Lost Boys is a disturbingly accurate view of Santa Cruz past (called Santa Carla in the movie).  The film is about a family who moves to a town fabled to be "the murder capitol of the world."  While exploring the town, the oldest son Micheal is turned into a "half" vampire and thus begins his quest to save himself, his family, his town and Laddie and Star, a "half" vampire woman and child.

The filming location of 'Grandpa's house' is the historic clubhouse located in Pogonip Open Space Preserve. Unfortunately the structure is unsafe to enter and has been fenced off.

A straight to DVD sequel of the movie, "Lost Boys: The Tribe" appeared in 2008.  This was followed by another sequel in 2010 called, "Lost Boys: The Thirst."  Neither were filmed in Santa Cruz.

Starring: Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes, Jason Patric, Dianne Wiest

Directed by: Joel Schumacher
