In 2002, Sleep Train Inc. announced plans to purchase 54 of Mattress Discounters' stores in California. The Mattress Discounters locations in Santa Cruz County became Sleep Train stores. In February and March 2017 the Sleep Train stores were renamed as Mattress Firm outlets.
