Morton Marcus was a poet who taught English and Film at Cabrillo College for 30 years, until 1998. He published twelve volumes of poetry and one novel. He co-hosted Cinema Scene on Community Television. His daughter Jana is a local photographer. Morton passed away at the age of 73 in October of 2009 after battling cancer for some time.
In 2010 the Morton Marcus Annual Poetry Reading was established.
