The Ohlone Kallentaruk Highway runs along a portion of state Highway 129 between Blackburn Street and Murphy Crossing Road in Watsonville.
The name Ohlone Kallentaruk was chosen in consultation with Ohlone Indian descendants from the Pajaro Valley, and the phrase means “house by the sea” which was used by the Ohlone to describe the Watsonville region.
The stretch of highway was named the Ohlone Kallentaruk Highway in 2012 through California Assembly Concurrent Resolution 100, which was authored by assembly members Bonnie Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) and Luis A. Alejo (D-Salinas).
