IN 2012 the shopping center was purchased by Safeway Stores. Safeway has had a store in the Rancho Del Mar Shopping Center since the center was opened in 1960. The shopping center was formerly owned by James Fenton.
On December 23, 2014 Safeway announced to sale of the shopping center to Terramar Retail Centers LLC. Terramar is based in Carlsbad, California.
