Union Street in the City of Santa Cruz starts at the 1100 block of Cedar Street (across from Plaza Lane) and goes for two blocks to Chestnut Street. After an 80 yard gap, Union Street starts again and continues to Mission Street.

History
Union Street was not the original name of the street. Near the corner of Center Street and (what is now) Union Street, the Santa Cruz Opera House, was built in 1877. The acts were not limited to opera. In 1921 the building was moved to Capitola. It served many uses including a pottery shop. It was torn down in 1962.
