Description

Vultures At Arms Reach got together in the winter of 2010 initially as a one time Misfits cover band. However, after the first practice covers were set aside and some Sabbath style riffs came out. The first practice consisted of Javier (vocals) from Grievance, Travis Howe (Guitar) and Brian Rucker (Drums). A few more practices, with the addition of Nathan Scollon (Bass), a few songs were formed, songs that were eventually left on the cutting room floor. Soon after Javier moved to Australia and Scollon moved to Hawaii, leaving Howe and Rucker to tie a musical bond.

Eventually after asking around for a bass player, Nate Kotila was added to the roster and newer songs were being developed.

Their first EP was produced in 2011 on a total fluke. The recording time was originally scheduled for Kotila's jam band Home Brew. The recording was uploaded for free on bandcamp and wasn't expected to turn many heads. Unbelievably, the EP was reviewed by several bloggers and a few downloads turned into hundreds, but not from their local area. Russia turned several hundred downloads alone, and another hundred in the states and the UK.

Kotila eventually moved to Scotland, leaving Howe and Rucker alone to tie the bond even more. During this time dark times fell upon both  remaining members and along came three more songs for the next EP. Kotila eventually returned from abroad and learned the new songs along side Gabe House on keys. This brought is Savages. The 2012 EP was respect for Russia and all of the attention that was being received there, and again was only put out on bandcamp and about 50 handmade CD's.

In 2013, the band went back to a three piece and began writing new material and eventually began production of their first full length record, with plans to put it out on CD, Vinyl, and various placed for digital download. Exactly one year later, gathering all the funds they could, the put out Colossus. After one month, over 400 copies were out in the public, and hundreds of new fans engaged with them. A new string of shows were set and after four years and only 10 shows, they played their first out of town gig in San Fran.

The future holds great things for these guys, as a west coast tour is being set up, and a new record is already under way.
