AMC Loews Metreon is located at Westfield Metreon.

This is the largest multiplex in San Francisco. Upon its opening, this place was considered a major movie going destination. However, since 1999 multiplexes and megaplexes have sprouted up all over the country and now the Metreon is nothing special.

There are 16 screens (14 regular screens, 1 Dolby Cinema at AMC screen and 1 IMAX Screen).

It projects 15/70mm film and 4K Dual Laser, so if you are going to spend your money on IMAX, this is the real deal compare to other in other IMAX theaters, which contain a single Laser or a Digital Xenon projector.

The IMAX screen is 75 feet Tall and 97 feet wide, making it the second largest IMAX screen in the US.

Auditorium 13 is a Dolby Cinema at AMC auditorium, which is a premium format that uses a 4K laser projector with a higher contrast ratio than IMAX's Laser projector, Dolby Atmos, an object-based surround sound system that allows for sound to be played overhead, and recliners that have subwoofers that react to the movie playing. This replaces the old ETX system which was in Auditorium 13.

There is stadium seating and leather recliners in every auditorium.

This theater features a main concession stand that serves curly fries, chicken tenders, Orville Redenbacher popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, ICEES, and candy.

In an effort to provide the most enjoyable experience for adults attending R-rated features in the evenings, no children younger than 6 will be admitted to movies after 6 p.m.

Please note: If the movie you want to see is not playing here, you can always go to Century Theatres across the street at Westfield San Francisco Centre.

Please see Movie theaters for more theater options.
