Our first write-a-thon was a HUGE success! About 25 people participated throughout the day, writing pages ranging from local mountain peaks, to Surfing Goats, to dumpster diving! Huge thanks  to our sponsors at Code for America, the grassroots  supporters across the nation of the local wiki movement, and of course, everyone who showed up to write!

Some statistics from the day:

  • 24 new accounts
  • 86 new pages
  • 35 new maps
  • 4,418 pageviews
  • 173 unique visitors

Residents of San Luis Obispo,

Come on over to 880 Upham Street anytime between 1 and 10PM on December 1, 2012 for wikiSLO's first ever Write-a-Thon! This event will be happening in tandem with write-a-thons all across the country as part of the Race for Reuse campaign to spread the adoption of civic apps such as local wikis!

It should be a fun time of conversations, food, research, sharing pictures, unearthing local history, and more!

The first topic you will be asked to write about is your Perfect Day in SLO. So get thinkin' about it!

Don't forget to bring your friends, roommates, family, dogs and LAPTOPS (or other internet devices) over!

In the meantime, please create an account!

By the way, this great event will have free food and drinks compliments of our sponsors at Code for America.

This event is also on Facebook.
