Streetspun LOVES Toledo! The yarnbombing started for Toledo in the Warehouse District, then moved throughout the Downtown area and eventually made it to the Old West End and UpTown District.  Streetspun consists of a one woman crocheter and has several accomplices to help assist with the process.  The point to yarnbombing is that there is really no point at all.  The only intention of the yarnbombs are to make things colorful and to make people smile. Streetspun has also exchanged yarnbombs with yarnbombers all over the world so Toledo has yarnbombs from The United Kingdom, Australia and France.

what is yarnbombing? 

Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarnstorming, guerrilla knitting, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of  street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fiber rather than paint or chalk. Yarnbombing examples have been recorded as early as May 2004 in Den Helder, Netherlands. In the U.S., in 2005 Texas knitters used their leftover and unfinished knitting projects, but it has since spread worldwide with custom pieces being created by artists. The start of this movement has been attributed to Magda Sayeg, from Houston, who says she first got the idea in 2005 when she covered the door handle of her boutique with a custom made cozy.
