Swayne Field was the home of Toledo baseball teams from 1909 to 1955. It was built under the direction of William R. Armour and Noah H. Swayne, Jr., and was torn down at the end of the 1955 season by Kroger to build a shopping center. The ballpark was located on a block bounded by Monroe Street (southwest - first base), Detroit Avenue (southeast - right field), Council Street (northeast - left field) and railroad tracks (northwest - third base).
