Our Story
In 1974 after receiving his BA from Lee University, Pastor Tony & ShirleyAnn Scott came to Toledo, Ohio with a vision to impact the city by helping people connect with God and to reach their full potential. In just a short time, a small congregation in Sylvania of 45 began growing…
A new auditorium was added to the church property. For the next 25 years, the Church played a central role in reaching out to the community with this message: The Balanced Life – Spirit, Soul, & Body. Due to a rapidly growing congregation, the church began looking for additional property to expand. We were shown the property on Strayer and, after a year of negotiations, the campus was finally ours.
With a new name and identity theChurch on Strayer provided an opportunity to create inspiring new ways to reach Toledo. theChurch is made up of people of all generations and cultures reaching out to our community. Our choice of “theChurch” best fits who we are and what we do. Church is a verb. We are theChurch because we DO church.
Another campus opened in Fremont, Ohio, we call it TheChurch on 53, and is reaching the community in a powerful and relevant way.
theChurch now has three locations: the Maumee Campus on Strayer, theChurch on 53 in Fremont, and theChurch Online. Today, more than 3,000 people attend the weekend services. The future is more campuses in surrounding cities.
God is at work at theChurch! It is exciting when the focus is simple & the people are free to go after God with passion.

In every service, ministry, and outreach, we desire to bring people closer to God and into a relationship with Him. It is always our goal to accomplish this by showing how God’s Word is applicable and relevant to everyday life.
