2007-04-30 17:45:55   A great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that has been in business at the same location since 1953.

Not a fancy building or interior, but the folks are real nice and the food is awesome. All dinners come with a great soup, then a dinner salad and finally your dinner. Chips & salsa before the meal of course and a small salsa bar to try also.

Known also for their Margaritas. The drink comes in green or pink and they are S T R O N G. Have a designated driver before you go. Cheaper to buy by the pitcher.

Emma's is very popular and plan on a bit of a wait if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. It's worth the wait.

It's our favorite Mexican restaurant and it only takes about 10 minutes or so to travel there from Davis.

After going over the causeway towards Sacramento on I-80, go up and over the freeway towards Reno. Take the first exit which is Reed Avenue (next to IKEA's). Turn right at the light. Go about 7 blocks and it will be on your right. —Tina

2008-11-25 15:06:02   I have been a patron of Emma's for the last 32 years and up until recently, I really enjoyed everything. Unfortunately, I've noticed a change in the last couple of years. The food doesn't have that same great taste (although the soup and salad are still great) and the prices have gone through the roof top! Full dinners are NOT just $9.00 any longer. I know the price of everything has gone up, but near $14.00 for a combination plate is ridiculous, especially when it's for simple hamburger tacos and cheese enchiladas. Not to mention, the "imitation" corn chips that are used. They taste purely like cardboard. Although the recipes remain the same, the quality of the food has changed, right along with the prices - and not in a positive way. But it really doesn't matter, because with all of the new development, business looks like it's increased, not decreased. With saying this, you would think that they would want to contribute back into the community, like they use to do so many years ago when they donated their services to the River City High School's Seniors biggest fundraiser - The Raider Card. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen them donate back to the community in quite some time?? 2009-08-23 13:10:49   I've been going here since I was a kid. For about 30 years now. The combination plates are pricey and have a lot of food. I recommend sharing. Lately, I order off the a la carte menu. I get a side salad and a taco. Add the complimentary chips and salsa bar, and I leave stuffed for about $6. —TenayaFreitas
