Harry Lane Englebright (1884-1943) was a Republican who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1926 to 1943 and also as the House minority whip from 1933 to 1943. Harry L. Englebright Lake and its associated dam on the Yuba River are named for him.
Englebright was born in Nevada City. His father, William F. Englebright, also served in the U.S. House of Representatives. Harry Englebright attended the University of California, Berkeley and worked as a mining engineer before entering politics.
Englebright was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election in 1926, after the death of Representative John E. Raker. He was elected to a full term later in 1926 and was reelected every two years for the rest of his life. He died in Bethesda, Maryland, while still in office.
