The Hydroplane Boat Races are held annually at Lake Minden in Nicolaus each spring or summer on Armed Forces Day (the third Saturday in May). Sponsored by the California Speedboat Association and the Northern California Outboard Association, these outboard/inboard races feature vintage race boats. The event begins Friday with a hoagie sandwich pot luck, followed by brown bag bingo. A craft sale will also be held. Classes are offered in "Beginning Photography" and "Oil Painting on Miniature Canvas."
