Oregon House is an unincorporated town in Yuba County. It is located southeast of Frenchtown, west of Dobbins, and northeast of Collins Lake and Stanfield Hill. Its elevation is 1,526 feet.

The native plant community of Oregon House is central oak woodland with a high concentration of serpentine.

History

Oregon House is named after a house that was built there in 1852 and became a popular stop for travelers. The History of Yuba County, California (Chapter XXIX: Parks Bar Township) by Thompson & West, 1879, described the house this way:

This house, situated twenty-four miles from Marysville, on the road to Camptonville, is one of the landmarks of Yuba county. It was first settled in 1850 by Larry Young, who built a log cabin in the valley, at the head of which the present house stands. The Oregon House was built in 1852, and in January, 1853, on the anniversary of the battle of New Orleans, a grand party was given. This was the first party in the hills, and two hundred and fifty tickets were sold. There were eighteen ladies present, which was a good showing for those days. There was a military company formed during the war, and the Oregon House was the rallying point. They were called the Yuba Mountaineers.

Oregon House has had its own post office since 1854, except during a brief period from 1902 to 1903.¹
