The total population of Plumas County was 20,007 as of the 2010 census.

• La Porte is a 20-minute drive northeast from North Star or a 2-hour drive northeast from Yuba City or Marysville. Its population was 26 as of the 2010 census.
• Quincy is a 2-hour drive northeast from Yuba City or Marysville. It is the county seat of Plumas County and has a population of 1,879 (as of the 2000 census).
• Portola is a 1.75-hour drive northeast from North Star or a 2.25-hour drive northeast from Yuba City or Marysville. With a population of 2,104 as of the 2010 census, it is the only incorporated city in Plumas County.
