The Snake River is a shallow river that is about 14 miles long. It begins northeast of the Sutter Buttes and flows into the Sutter Bypass west of Tudor. Its tributaries include Morrison Slough and Sutter County Extension Canal. Wadsworth Canal diverts some of the water from the Snake River and also empties into the Sutter Bypass.

The Snake River should not be confused with Snake Slough.
