Lemmon's California lilac (Ceanothus lemmonii) blooming with blue flowers, accompanied by red paintbrushes and a young yellow pine tree. Photo by queerbychoice. Texas Hill is a hill south of Texas Hill Road, between Oregon House and Dobbins. Its elevation is 1,899 feet,1 but its prominence above the surrounding countryside is only about 40 feet.

In 1930, botanist Alice Eastwood collected samples of Lemmon's California lilacs2 and canyon nemophilas3 slightly northeast of Texas Hill, near the intersection of Texas Hill Road and Meadow Valley Road. These plants can still be seen in the area, although their numbers are decreasing due to competition from non-native grasses that were introduced for cattle to graze on.
