The old zoo is the first zoo to have been built in Two Guns around the 1920s.1 Following realignment of Route 66 in 1938 due to the new Canyon Diablo bridge being built, this building was abandoned and the zoo was moved closer to the road along with the gas station. The building of the old zoo also served as a store and small house.2 The zoo housed, likely among other creatures, a lynx, javelinas, mountain lions, eagles, and gila monsters.1 Currently, a majority of the stone brick walls still stand, though they are in various states of ruin, and some chicken wire and wooden structures are also still present.
