Minutes of Committee Meeting Held Wednesday 9th April 2014 at 9.30am

in the Hahndorf Institute Supper Room.

 

1.Present

3.Minutes of Previous Meeting March 12th 2014

Confirmed P Houston, 2nd J Fowles.  Addition of R Grivell in attendance at Traffic Meeting .

 

4.Business Arising

4.1 Pioneer Memorial Gardens.Most plantings completed, limestone steps widened, all satisfactory. John reported that some of his suggested plants are still being sourced.

* Toilet screen needed .

*Grant application toward interpretive signage submitted.

*Official Opening April 15th at 4.30 pm HCA members invited.

* Letter of appreciation to Andrew Gottzheim and David Cooney - outdoor managers.

4.2 175th Celebrations.

* 12 April Hymns and Classics in St Paul's Church

* Arbour Day held March 27th at St Paul's Homes. 11 Crepe Myrtles planted in Thiele Ct and Braun Dr by 40 Children and several seniors.

* Walter Wotzke retrospective May 2nd.

* May 18 Pioneer Women's Walk.

* Footy match July.[oldies]

* Sept 21 in conjunction with State Band Championships . Long Lunch to replace Main St Parade. Logistics and cost to close street extreme.  Need to find ways to involve descendants and Hahndorf story.  HBTA supportive.  175 Planning Committee to seek strategies for this event.  HCA recommendation that all events for 175th be collated into a booklet.

4.3 HCA Publicity Notice of HCA activities on notice board. Seek acknowledgement for projects whenever possible.

4.4 Heavy Vehicle Meeting with B Clancey. MArch 5 . Follow up letter tabled. Written response from B Clancey pending. Copy of Traffic Management Report 2009 with tabs on appropriate sections forwarded to Phil.  Risk analysis and comment from DPTI pending. Phil, Rick met with planners regarding wombat crossings IGA, and near Hereford  Ave. Potential traffic bank up considered.

4.5 Village Voice distribution list. Minor changes to be undertaken .  Thanks to walkers.

6. Reports

6.1 Financial 9.04.2014 Balance $3613.85. $870.00 in trust for 175th Suggest for booklet.  Unanimous agreement to this project. Received $270,00 V V Ads. Expenses $140.00 stationary.

6.2 Wheelwright shop - no action necessary.

6.3 SirTony Robinson visit. Filming for a new series for Foxtel,"called Tour of Duty".  Limited information provided from the organisers. Balhannah Rd closed Saturday 12th for an Open Day on Academy lawn and street.Filming being undertaken over 3 days - WW1 stories , interviews and valuation of artifacts. National Trust, Legacy, Cedars, State Library plus locals involved in telling the story.

 

7. Any Other Business

7.1 Nixons Mill. Jim reported that a letter is in the system responding to meeting with DCMB  Sub committee will maintain an insistant but quiet force of action Invite MT Barker National Trust to send letter of support to Mayor.

7.2 Letter head now needs PO Box addresses Action Ann

7.3 Wishing well on Hall garden Query as to whether this will remain when garden is made over.. Novita gains from donations.

7.4 War Memorial relocation . This is being installed further back on the apron, to cater for growing crowds at Anzac Dawn Service as persons have been spilling onto the road.

7.5 Trees on Main St . Some new trees have been damaged. Rick spoke with Council staff,  response quick. Old trees are becoming vunerable due to rot and possums in hollows.
