Minutes of Committee Meeting Held Wednesday 10 August 2016

3. Minutes of Previous Meeting 8 June 2016 and 13 July 2016 June minutes

Tony moved, Mike seconded. July minutes add Tony to Present, add Harold’s letter in correspondence. Jim moved, Margaret seconded.

4. Business Arising

Rural DPA. Jim and Jean attended Council SDP Committee meeting on Monday night. Jean described meeting as disheartening, much confusion on various issues between councillors and staff. Jeff opposed amendment. Committee recommended amendment to full Council for approval. Jeff said RDPA is important to other districts. Discussion moved to EPA letter concerns. Jean outlined a recommendation to write to Greg Waller re our concerns regarding EPA submission. Committee agreed to send letter to Andrew Stuart, cc Council. Tony emphasized importance of getting our protest on record. Deadline tomorrow. Tony moved, Mike seconded. Action Jean

5. Correspondence In/Out

6. Subcommittees 2015/16

6.1 Master Plan Submission - Jean emailed on behalf of Council to Scoping contacts. Positive feedback via email and phone. Forwarded letter and list to Penny. Penny acknowledged and indicated process will begin shortly. All good.

6.2 Heavy Vehicle Sub Committee - Margaret spoke for Ann W re State government liability accidents/damage due to heavy vehicles. Bruce confirmed we had expressed concerns about risk. Jim brought up DPTI Community grants. Jean said we tried for Residents Win last year. No movement.

6.3 Nixon’s Mill Project - Eric explained progress. Fencing completed. Stairs good. Carol asked about removal of trees. Necessary for better viewing and accessibility. Beautification/re-planting will happen, not necessarily this season. Jim discussed signage. Jim explained new committee formed Hahndorf/Mount Barker National Trust on signage. Will be quite effective.

6.4 Parking - No comment, in progress.

6.5 Marketing/Community/Liaison/Networking - No comment

7. Reports

7.1 Financial - Total funds $4362, $800 held for Nixon’s Mill. Accounts being audited. Need to consider fundraising options.

7.2 Entrance Statement - Decided on concept plan. Jeff added we need to move if we want to be a sponsor.

7.3 Council Matters - Jeff spoke about Nairne DPA. Main issue western boundary, James Sexton wants to sub divide. Community wants it kept as it is now. Glebe land continues to be an issue in the Littlehampton Master Plan. Council wants half infrastructure, half parklands.

7.4 Planning/Heritage - No report

7.5 Digital Progress Facebook/Wiki - Tony reported demo with Academy, details to be organized with Lyndall.

7.6 Village Voice - Underway, Konica Minolta may print free of charge.

8. General Business

8.1 Tour Down Under 2017 Community Grant - Ann has grant submission ready. Action AnnHahH

8.2 Speaker/Agenda for September 2016 AGM - Bruce distributed poster to Committee. A3 Qty 50, A5 Qty 1000. Bruce says it’s up to all of us to invite. Details being pulled together. Action Bruce Jean Jim Ann Two speakers, time sharing. actual Artwork. Visionary, giving people something to enjoy about our village. Distribute flyers two weeks before (Thurs/Fri) prior. Ann added great supper, ½ doz bottles from Brothers in Arms, ½ doz from Bendbrook, fruit cheese and chocolates. Everyone to set up and clean up. Ann suggests students be invited to see artwork Action Ann

9. Other Business

9.1 Remembrance Day Speaker - Dr. Susan Neuhaus too busy to meet. In conversation with Ann. Action Ann

9.2 Sausage Sizzle/Entrance Statement & HCA Barbecue - Mike spoke about organizing a barbecue at Bunnings. Only Friday available. Will let us know an estimate of revenue Action Mike Alternative is to hold an HCA barbecue at the Academy corner during a long summer weekend. Carol added cake stall is a way to value add. 9.3 Mount Barker Residents Association Quiz Night-  Jean needs to confirm numbers. Jean & Paul, Margaret, Mike & Eileen, Tony & Margaret. Adds Bruce and Alison. Will forward details to Janet and Malcom. Action Jean

Bruce brings up footer in stationary and asks if we should change residential to community. Tony says all residents are officially members, Traders can apply. Agreed to change. Action Jean

Bruce asks if legitimate to make comments on individual traders or our responsibility to report on Traders. Tony says only if it effects overall community. Margaret says people will vote with their feet. Jean agrees and adds social media give an outlet to express views. Malcom asks is their anything in the constitution, Tony says no.
