Minutes of Committee Meeting

Held in Hahndorf Institute on Wednesday 11th July at 9.30 am.

Minutes of Previous Meeting - May 12th

Moved Jim Fowles, 2nd Tony Finnis, that Minutes are correct.

Business Arising.

1.   Improved lighting for Main Street. 

No movement

2.  Upgrade for Hahnwiki.

Tony reported that a change is imminent, related to thenServer in USA. Hahnwiki is very small in the scheme of things, therefore consideration of a wider catchment may be necessary.  Details next meeting.   Discussion with Jeff, Rick prior.

3.  Pioneer Memorial Gardens upgrade

Playground complete.  Surrounds under construction.  Toilet construction next.   Ann follow up timing.

4.  Heavy Traffic.

Confirmation in writing of shared pedestrian movement study near IGA.  A traffic count taken 26.2.2012 unknown to HCA.

5.  Pine Ave corner

Not a Council priority, but HCA keep this alive.  Action Rick, Phil

6.  Waterways

 HCA has actioned support of NRMB for clearance of some Hahndorf creeks ,in particular behind Doug Allen’s property.  NRMB offering grants to community groups/individuals for projects.  Seek information and contact appropriate Council officer.  Action Ann

7.  Accidents on Main Street

No further reports.   Use V V to highlight.

8.   Heritage Issues.

HCA taking action to preserve heritage buildings/space in Hahndorf with particular emphasis on Main St development.  Jim reported on decisions of sub committee thus far.

  • future action and time line ie gradual feeding of information to community through next 2 Village Voice articles, letters,
  • a survey with reply paid envelopes in March edition, depending on outcome of Council Consultation of May 19th .

Constitutional responsibility.

  • Press release.   Action Rick.   Decision to invite Heritage Advisor to August meeting.  Action Ann.    Find ways to learn early of development applications and formulate response.
  • Imperative to keep National Trust engaged with group.

  • Corinna Steeb re Lantern Festival.  Inviitation to HCA to run this with Support.   Decision Unable to assist.   Action Ann

  • Entertainment license for Old Mill.  No effective information.  Discussion with licensees during events  Action Rick, Ann
