Minutes of Committee Meeting held on Wednesday, 14 March 2012 at 9.30am in the Institute Supper Room

1. Reports:

Business Arising:

1.1 Improved Lighting for darker areas of Main Street, Hahndorf - LCD fittings in stock with Pecan Electrical. Council seeking response from ETSA to have fittings mounted. Already installed at South Terrace, Adelaide.

1.2 Upgrade for the Hahnwiki - Tony Finnis to visit Rick Harcourt to facilitate update.
Action: Tony Finnis/Rick Harcourt

1.3 Pioneer Memorial Gardens Upgrade - Fencing to western boundary and site levelling of playground area to commence next week.

1.4 Heavy Traffic Issues and speed limit of 40kms through Main Street of Hahndorf
Secretary to respond to letter from Andrew Excel DTPI received 7/11/2011.

Traffic Study of Hahndorf Main Street to be jointly funded by DCMB and DTPI in 2012/2013 budget. Brian Clancy has arranged same. Need to ensure counts etc. done on a weekend. To mainly focus on pedestrians but also will highlight any Main Street traffic issues which might come to light. Delegation consisting of Jeff Bettcher, Rick Harcourt and Phil Houston to go to see Brian Clancy at Council to discuss further. Jeff Bettcher to organise. .

1.5 Parking on Main Street - Jeff Bettcher advised that Council considering three hour parking limit in Main Street.

1.6 Pine Avenue/Main Street Intersection
Jeff Bettcher to arrange discussion re appropriate location of pedestrian crossover with Norm Key and Phil Houston.

1.7 Hahndorf Waterways - Jeff Bettcher met with Council Officers and Mr Nick Braithwaite re entry undergrowth at the meeting of the Hahndorf Creek and the Onkaparinga River. Most of the undergrowth is on Mr Braithwaite’s property and therefore his responsibility; only 5 metres next to bitumen is on public land, probably DTPI’s land. Council may be able to organise cleanup of first 5 metres.

1.8 Follow up on Accidents Report in Main Street, Hahndorf - Broken kerb on Pine Avenue. Mike Hasler reported to Mayor of Mt Barker and She agreed to follow up.

Kath Storey rang with promise of $50 donation per issue to the “Village Voice”.

Sent “Get Well” card to Rob Lang who has undergone a heart operation.

3. Reports:

3.1 Chairman’s Report:

DTPI prepared to jointly fund with DCMB a Main Street Traffic Study.

HCA objectives:
Reduction of Heavy Traffic through Main Street, Hahndorf
Pedestrian safety at Pine Avenue
Safe crossing at IGA
Incorporate donations into the “Village Voice”
Achieve a more strategic approach to off street parking
Preservation of heritage buildings in Hahndorf. (Don’t approve without consultation). To work in conjunction with National Trust; to look at Hahndorf as a whole to see what we can do retain its heritage. Committee to get itself involved in the development of Hahndorf.
Footpath out to Beerenberg (safe trail for tourists)

3.2 Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer presented his report to the meeting showing cash at bank $1,685.91 as at 14 March 2012.
Report was accepted.

4. Any Other Business

4.1 Secretary (Sheila Bettcher) to replace Eric Aliffe as HCA representative to Hahndorf Primary School.
To attend meetings as and when they occur. Eric to provide details to Sheila.

4.2 A “developer watch” over Eric Sheuard’s home.

4.3 A need to limit the parking of large mobile homes and car/caravan combinations in the Main Street.

The next meeting of the Committee will be held at 9.30am on Wednesday, 11 April, 2012 in the Hahndorf Institute Supper Room.
