Committee Meeting held Wednesday March 13th 2013 at 9.30am in the Hahndorf Institute Supper Room

 

1. Present

4. Business Arising

a. Power line infrastructure upgrade . Photos and notice on HCA noticeboard. Considerable interest noted. Cr Jeff working with directly affected residents, Council and DAC. Residents invited to write to DAC Presiding Member. Mr Ted Byrt. and/or appear at DAC hearing . NB National Trust won a similar case lodged with DAC regarding high powerline installation some years ago.

b. Heritage community consultation update. -press release in Weekend Herald gave clear summary of words and sentiments.

  • Village Voice distributed to all residents/businesses, with i. insert for comment, ii information in HCA Chairmans’ report Community now well informed. Opportunity to build a data base of interested residents. Discussion . What area and what timeline does ‘heritage’ cover?

“ what we have inherited and what we plan to leave”

“ check list of heritage related properties on Hahnwiki”

“ artifacts of the past combine to make the uniqueness of Hahndorf”

“ original settlers mostly from Silecia, some from Prussia”

“ covers barns, space, trees, waterholes etc”

Jim F congratulated on work undertaken . No 84 Main Street under quiet review as is owned by DCMB, thus development should have been according to heritage process and requirements rather than within lease . Action Eric.

c. Local government boundary review.

- HCA made submission re our position ie retain status quo, with inclusion of Paechtown in North Ward.

  • Feb 18, Council endorsed the Elector Representation Review Report. This provides Council’s preferred option.

  • Report now available for community comment by April 2nd. [on council website]

  • Hearing April 15th.

d. 175th Anniversary celebrations.. DCMB not involved .  Academy, HBTA have had respective Board preliminary discussion. HCA role to support, cooperate, facilitate . Community discussion and involvement essential. Contact Lyndell Davidge, John Ashcroft.  Letter of support to HBTA committee.  Action Ann

e. Council Matters

i Master Plan for Nairne under way.

ii Pedestrian study for Hahndorf Main Street footpath. undertaken on a Sunday 12.00 -3.00 Figures warrant another crossing on Main St. Most likely source for funding will be Federal Blackspot funding. HCA pressure has achieved this initial response .Further pressure to be initiated once truck count on Pine Ave is in public domain.

iii Footpaths Auricht Rd from Pine- Johns L. Collins St next.

iv Pioneer Memorial Gardens toilets Plumbing/ electrical work but DAC holdup for building.

v. Pots to be filled and planted Thursday.

vi “Angel of Hahndorf” to be commissioned 26 March at 6.00pm.

Subcommittees.

Purpose of this is to broaden responsibilities thus becoming more effective. Each sub committee to meet, establish purpose, project priorities, needs and report monthly if appropriate. Rick confirmed those on subcommittees.

Barkerwiki –Tony requested that persons from other organizations be coopted at his discretion.

Heritage - add Harold. Wendy.

Parking - add Mike.

A copy of latest Masterplan to be available for reference.   Action Ann

7. Any Other Business

a. AGM Speaker suggestion Curator of The Cedars Allan Campbell. CEO of National Trust. Give further consideration.

b.  St Paul’s Church development not for public viewing, however palm tree is listed as of significance. 17 Windsor Ave house demolition appropriate

c. Post Box at S Paul’s end of street only accessible on foot due to continuous yellow line. Follow up Jeff

d. Balhannah Rd 3 hour zone . Schools requesting “kiss and drop’ at appropriate times.

e. Fringe brochures tabled . Efforts of Fringe committee applauded.
